Jonathan is a certified PGA Teaching Professional and has been at Murrumbidgee Country Club since November 2018. Prior to that he was the Head Professional at Magpies Belconnen for over 10 years, at Eden Gardens Country Club on the Far South Coast (seven years) and the Assistant Professional at both Capital Golf Club and Royal Canberra Golf Club.

 

Most of his 30 years of retail golf experience has been in the Canberra golf industry. Jonathan has excellent rapport with all levels of players and management, prides himself on providing a friendly welcoming face and an exceptional level of customer service, and enjoys making valuable contributions to improve the Club’s facilities for its members.  

 

COACHING

Jonathan has an excellent coaching reputation across Canberra and previously in the South Coast district as a highly respected golf coach. He is sought after for his friendly, down-to-earth innovative approach and left-handed specialty. He coaches with the Flightscope technology to help clients better understand and improve their golf swing. Clients keep coming back due to his friendly, easily-understood approach, proven track record for lowering handicaps and high customer satisfaction.

 

He uses a range of innovative, modern teaching techniques and tools (including FlightScope video) and keeps himself informed of the latest teaching methods being used in the industry.  He has a Level 1 coaching certification from BioSwing Dynamics – a system that determines the best swing for a golfer’s skeletal structure. He offers a diverse range of clinics as well as personal tuition programs. His coaching packages have proven very popular and resulted in member’s improved handicaps.

 

 JUNIOR GOLF

Jonathan has a strong passion for and excellent track record in developing junior golf. He runs one of only two girls only clinics on the southside of Canberra.

 

His work with juniors at Magpies Belconnen resulted in the Club being awarded the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation Golf Club of the Year in 2014 across all of NSW and ACT.

 

Jonathan has coached a number of successful juniors in their formative years including Amber Tilley from Belconnen (2019 Murrumbidgee Women’s Open Day winner), Adam Thorpe (2018 World Junior Golf Champion), David Howard (2018 OJGA Junior Open International Champion in Hawaii) and Andrew Collins from Eden.

 

COACHING QUALIFICATIONS
